Tonalá has no station of its own, so we use the tide at Coatzcoalcos (NOAA), 18 mi away. On the open coast the difference is usually a few minutes and inches; inside estuaries, rivers and enclosed bays it can be much larger. It is a NOAA subordinate station: its times and heights come from the Madero reference station with the official corrections.
