Where this tide comes from
Bolivar Peninsula has no station of its own, so we use the tide at Gilchrist (NOAA), 6.4 mi away. On the open coast the difference is usually a few minutes and inches; inside estuaries, rivers and enclosed bays it can be much larger. It is a NOAA subordinate station: its times and heights come from the Galveston reference station with the official corrections.
