Where this tide comes from
White Stone has no station of its own, so we use the tide at Mill Creek (Grey Point, NOAA), 4.8 mi away. On the open coast the difference is usually a few minutes and inches; inside estuaries, rivers and enclosed bays it can be much larger. It is a NOAA subordinate station: its times and heights come from the Hampton Roads (Sewells Point) reference station with the official corrections.
