Mixed: two high and two low tides a day, but of quite different heights.
Heights above mean lower low water (MLLW), the zero of US nautical charts. Astronomical prediction: wind and air pressure can raise or lower the water by a few inches, and more in a storm. Not for navigation. MLLW

Where this tide comes from
Wanchese has no station of its own, so we use the tide at Jennettes Pier (NOAA), 5.3 mi away. On the open coast the difference is usually a few minutes and inches; inside estuaries, rivers and enclosed bays it can be much larger. It is a NOAA subordinate station: its times and heights come from the Duck Pier reference station with the official corrections.

One wave in seven is higher than the significant height, and about 3 times a day one reaches 6.4 ft. Before heading out, expect waves of up to 6.4 ft.
Wind on the coast and offshore
Cross-offshore wind. The coast faces south and the wind comes off the land at an angle: calmer water near the shore, and bait and boats drift out to sea.

Waves stay much the same all week. The biggest waves arrive on Wednesday 28: 3.1 ft with a period of 6 s, from the east-northeast (slight).
