Where this tide comes from
West Denton has no station of its own, so we use the tide at Dover Bridge (NOAA), 13 mi away. On the open coast the difference is usually a few minutes and inches; inside estuaries, rivers and enclosed bays it can be much larger. It is a NOAA subordinate station: its times and heights come from the Baltimore reference station with the official corrections.

The sea at West Denton
Sea state
The wave model doesn't reach West Denton: it's on inland water (an estuary, sound or sheltered bay) or far from the open sea. Wind is still available right here.
Wind on the coast and offshore
The model doesn't separate offshore wind here: it's the same as on the coast.
Onshore wind. The coast faces southeast and the wind blows straight in from the sea: more surf and backwash at the shore, and bait and boats drift toward land.

For fishing, swimming and diving
- Shore fishing. Very shallow: the water doesn't reach 16 ft within 0.45 mi. Cast far from the beach, ideally around high tide.
- Swimming. A very gentle way in with plenty of shallow water, good for kids. At low tide the water can be far out.
- Diving. Shallow: the water doesn't reach 33 ft within 0.45 mi. For deeper dives, take a boat farther out.
Inside bays, estuaries and harbors the bottom changes a lot from spot to spot (channels and shoals): use this only as a rough guide. There is land ahead (an island, a headland or the far shore) 0.45 mi out. The profile is turned slightly from the coast so it does not run into an island or a headland. Where the bottom comes up to the surface there are shoals, rocks or an islet next to the profile.
