Where this tide comes from
Playa El Coco has no station of its own, so we use the tide at San Juan Del sur (NOAA), 8.4 mi away. On the open coast the difference is usually a few minutes and inches; inside estuaries, rivers and enclosed bays it can be much larger. It is a NOAA subordinate station: its times and heights come from the La Union (Cutuco) reference station with the official corrections.

- Water at 86.4 °F: boardshorts or a swimsuit and a rash guard.
- Energy: 101 kJ · Medium power
Today’s surf at a glance
The best window, 2:00 pm to 5:41 pm, has a good size and light offshore wind. 5:13 am to 7:00 am also works, with a good size and light offshore wind.

- Shore fishing. Shallow, gradual bottom (16 ft at 0.35 mi): cast far from the beach and fish the high tide, when there is more water close in.
- Swimming. A very gentle way in with plenty of shallow water, good for kids. At low tide the water can be far out.
- Diving. Shore diving works here: 33 ft at 0.4 mi and 66 ft at 0.55 mi from shore.
Rough estimate: here the data comes in cells of about 0.3 mi and misses details near shore (rocks, sandbars, small coves).
