What is the tide coefficient?
2026 extremes: the highest tide of the year is on February 3 (8.5 ft) and the lowest, on June 16 (-1.1 ft).
Semidiurnal: two high and two low tides a day, of similar height.
Heights above mean lower low water (MLLW), the zero of US nautical charts. Astronomical prediction: wind and air pressure can raise or lower the water by a few inches, and more in a storm. Not for navigation. MLLW

Where this tide comes from
Salango has no station of its own, so we use the tide at Puerto de Cayo (NOAA), 18 mi away. On the open coast the difference is usually a few minutes and inches; inside estuaries, rivers and enclosed bays it can be much larger. It is a NOAA subordinate station: its times and heights come from the La Libertad reference station with the official corrections.

For fishing, swimming and diving
- Shore fishing. Shallow, gradual bottom (16 ft at 800 ft): cast far from the beach and fish the high tide, when there is more water close in.
- Swimming. A very gentle way in with plenty of shallow water, good for kids. At low tide the water can be far out.
- Diving. Shore diving works here: 33 ft at 0.55 mi and 66 ft at 0.7 mi from shore.
Rough estimate: here the data comes in cells of about 0.3 mi and misses details near shore (rocks, sandbars, small coves). The profile is turned slightly from the coast so it does not run into an island or a headland. Where the bottom comes up to the surface there are shoals, rocks or an islet next to the profile.
