Where this tide comes from
Upper Hell's Gate has no station of its own, so we use the tide at St. Barthelemy (NOAA), 30 mi away. On the open coast the difference is usually a few minutes and inches; inside estuaries, rivers and enclosed bays it can be much larger. It is a NOAA subordinate station: its times and heights come from the Lime Tree Bay reference station with the official corrections.
